Hi Reinoud,
Both genera are in the 'Apocleine' group of Asilinae (w/o anatergal setae); distinctive, as both w/ r4 & r5 veins ending in costa above tip of wing.
Lochmorhynchus ovipositor w/ apical pair of flap-like appendages, no spines; restricted to so. S. Amer. (Argentina & Chile).
Proctacanthus (+
Taurhynchus, Eccritosia & Proctacanthella) have apical cluster of spines on ovipositor, are widespread in Americas.
