I've found this fly in a wet place, with several small ponds near Caen in Normandy. The plant is probably groundsel. I think it's probably a Cheilosia, but a large one, approximatively 12 mm.
I have other views if necessary

Hello,

when was it found? Now in autumn? Then it is maybe Cheilosia canicularis. It loves yellow composites.

P.S.: There is a subforum for Syrphidae.
