Sorry that I am posting different specimens in the same thread :S :S but it needs to be so this time.

In the last years, a certain type of Physocephala has been spotted in the same area outside Madrid city systematically at the end of July and beginning of August. The keys take to Physocephala vaginalis in the case of females (silvery pleural band, frons entirely yellow (no black line), light subcostal cell, no dark spot on wing tip and above all, big reddish theca with black apex).

My friend Eloy Higuera and I have been discussing these specimens and we think it is indeed Physocephala vaginalis. But we have no reference material to compare. We might be interpreting something wrongly somewhere. Any Conopid expert can help to clarify the identity of this lovely fly?
