Can these flies be named?
Found 22-6-2016 near Cathedral Gorge, Nevada,USA

Thecophora propinqua. The hind femur is at least 1/5 yellow in other species. This is not a group I pay much attention to, but if that projection at the hind end of the female is the genital plate is also confirms species:"This species is characterized by the long female genital plate, the prominence of white or yellowish hairs on the abdomen of typical males, the nearly or entirely black hind femur, and the small size." http://chla.libra...m=frameset
