Hi,

I'm new here and new to Diptera. I don't have much literature yet, just "Britains Hoverflies" and "A comprehensive guide to insects of Britain and Ireland", but I'm having fun taking photos.

Could someone tell me - is this a Pollenia species? They were on a Rhododendron leaf, in July in the South of England.

Many thanks

Dave

I think these are Tachinidae. Pollenia, like most Calliphoridae, have plumose arista.

Tachinidae : possibly Macquartia dispar. Edit the title to attract Theo.
