Can someone identify this fly.
Parasitized caterpillar Scoliopteryx libatrix.
Russia, Moscow region, Orekhovo-Zuevsky district.

This one is very interesting !
It is the male of a very rare Winthemia species. Two are very similar: speciosa and venusta. The date of emergence suggests this should be speciosa.

Are you sure about the host ? That would be new .

Ok !

Did you collect the specimen ? Even the expert I consulted is not sure whether this is speciosa or venusta. I would be very pleased if the specimen was collected and could be made avallable for identification !

Unfortunately during the photo sample with jumped from the branch and the author lost it.
