Hello,
Other Culicidae found in an underground cavity near a pond and a stream in northern France this week:

Culiseta annulata?
Thank you,
Guénael.

I just look.
3 species seem able to look like:
- Culiseta annulata
- Culiseta subochrea, who seems to have the least tergites contrast, less ringed appearance
- Culiseta alaskaensis, which seems to have less ringed shins

The mine would look like rather C.annulata I think.
Possible to confirm? I have a picture of the abdomen so useful.

Thank you.
Guénael.

Yes, C. annulata.
C. subochrea is lighter, more yellowish.
C. alaskaensis has not a white ring in the middle of the 1st tarsus.
