2015-09-27, Degeberga Sweden.

This has to be the male P. aurigera ...

Had several of them in the garden this weekend. A beautiful fly.

yes, it is. Please note that it is pretty small and dark for an aurigera male.
Given the abdominal pattern alone, I'd guessed it would have been aurulans (which is also around in Sweden).
Normally, males aurigera are more 'macho'.
