Hello
Please help with this huge fly.

Mugla (south-western) Turkey, May 2015.
Meadow between lake and forest.

What is this huge Tabanidae species ? I think it was 30 mm long.

It had been circling me for some time, then perched just besides me.

I guess this is a Therioplectes species (Tabanidae).

It is, a female Therioplectes kuehlhorni, known from this region ( see my 2005 review of the genus).
Extremely late in the year !

Was it reallynso yellow or is there some trick of the photo ?

Thank you both very much. The brightness of the hairs is probably exaggerated by early morning sun.
