I believe this is Tachinidae. Can anyone suggest a subfamily or genus? Malaise trap, Townsville, Queensland.

A Carcelia or more likely Senometopia. The latter from QLD are hopeless....

Thanks Theo. I'm finding the faces very helpful in sorting out species from each other. I have two screens on my computer. I open this one on the right hand screen and run a slide show of all possible faces on the left screen. All I need now is some face recogntion software. :)

Yes, If you have seen many Tachinidae, you can do a lot with jizz of faces ! Be sure, though, not to be misled be trivial matters as sexual dimorphism.
So compare males with males only, whenever possible.

Ah, there's a problem. I haven't worked out how to tell a male from a female. Can you help?
