I'd say, C. absinthii

Dear Valery,

As a photographer I can tell you, that it's nearly impossible to take such a good picture of a hopeless small fly as C. absinthii. This fly looks to big for C. absinthii.
I do have some experience with C. malaris, look here :Tephritidae and I still think it is.
Maybe Keith has another picture, where the hind legs are visible

Ben, Valery, thanks. I found an article http://www.gemblo...7/1607.pdf which links C. malaris to S. erucifolius. Are there any visible characters to separate malaris from absinthii or is this down to genitalia?

From the head to what appears to be the tip of the abdomen is a little over 4mm.

Here is is best view I have of a hind leg.

I've also got this which is a DIFFERENT SPECIMEN from the same location/date and same type of plant.

It concerns this row of hairs on the hind leg, which should be visible.

Thank you Ben, I was also thinking of C. solidaginis, as the colour of p npl is not clearly visible, but yes, I lost the very western C. malaris and possibly C. punctella from consideration.
