Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Is a tulipidae and which?

I took the picture in the Blackforest near Lenzkirch today. 4 May 2015. I have no idea about the identity. However, the white stripes on the antennae and the red knees of this animal make it rather unique.

It is an Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera)

how do you come to this? There are more than 3.300 species in family Ichneumonidae in Germany, over 110 in genus Ichneumon alone (and it is by far not sure, that this animal belongs to that genus). In most cases Ichneumonidae cannot be determined after a photo (even a much more detailed one).
