Thanks Theo for responding. Arista is pulmerous, but slightly, I found some image.

For a Tachinid, that is plumose !
So most likely some Dexiini, but still might be some aberrant Tachinini.

Yes , that is the alternative. Hence my remark on Tachinini.
Either way, it is 'aberrant' from a Palaearctic point of view.
I am insufficient familiar with the Australian fauna to call this from picture.
With specimen, it would be probably no problem.

In Crosskey's (1973) key it runs to "undetermined genus" near
Toxocnemis. Note projecting chin and frontal bristles ending in a cluster of bristles rather than forming a neat row.
