Hi,

is there any chance to get to know the family of this pupa without raising it (if it is a dipteran at all...)?

Many thanks in advance!

Lennart

2015-03-20, Germany, S-H, Mohrkirch, found while digging under an alder, a few cm underground. Length 16 mm.

My impression is hymenopteran, but try to rear it.

This appears to be a pupa of Bibionidae. The superposed leg sheaths and short antennae are pretty distinctive in combination with the Nematoceran tucked head.
