Can anyone suggest a genus for this fly. At light, Townsville, Queensland.

Try please. Perhaps one day I shall come by to see them. Only one or two N Australian and 5-6 Papuan specimens like that in CSIRO, AM, Bishop and BM together...

What sort of beetles do you get at your lights?

Various families. What are you interested in?

In North America these flies parasitize scarab beetles; the Eastern species attack Phyllophaga. A host association for Australian species would be interesting.

This is a regular at the light trap. I'm guessing it's an Onthophagus, but if there is an association, I've no idea.

By far, pyrgotids were known to infest only rutiline, melolontine, and cetoniine Lamellicornia, not the scarabs per se
