A Tabanidae from Vietnam (Hoi An) shooted by a friend, 10.02.2015.
Any ID possible ?

I think it's a female of Tabanus striatus species complex, though have no idea on its further ID. Maybe Theo can tell us more.

Looks like striatus complex. common and difficult.
Need to work on that.

Is that northern or southern Vietnam ?

So, it is very likely it is Tabanus striatus itself.
This is considered a ' northern' species, but this is from a Thai perspective (Burton, 1978), so that should be OK.
Nevertheless, Burton mentions only 1 record from Vietnam. No idea if that is due to undersampling or real.
