Entomologist Stephen Marshall wrote in one of his books, if it has a complete subcosta, no vibrissae, and doesn't look like anything else, it's probably Lauxaniidae.

(In Coleoptera, a generic looking beetle that doesn't have any distinctive characters is likely to be Tenebrionidae.)
