Thanks again! I have got a british key (but don´t know where it comes from) and when I check in that key I come to L. strigilatum. But I am not sure at all that this is correct....

L. strigilatum should have 10 ad on the hindtibia....and I don't think I can see them.
Because it is a female Anthomyiidae, it will be difficult, but lets try ..

First we have to know if we are really dealing with Lasiomma.
So could you check if there are very little hairs present on the eyes and you can see them the best, with a black or dark background behind the fly, under your microscoop.
And then you have to check if there are little hairs present on the Costa on ventral side along the whole length (little hairs beneeth the stronger costal hairs)....mostly difficult to see.
If not.......we have a problem :)

Personally, I am more thinking about L. seminitidum.

Thanks for trying - a tricky group I understand!

Yes, I can see that there are hairs preent on the costa (beneath costal "spines"). It is more difficult to see hairs on the eyes, but there seems to be short and sparse hairs on the eyes. If you didn´t tell me I wouldn´t have noticed them. If it helps I can add more detailed pictures in hindtibia (and other parts).

In female Lasiomma seminitidum the midtibia should have 3 pd on the midtibia and about 4-5 stronger ad on the hindtibia (with some smaller one’s between them)…..see drawing.

I also will show you the ventral setulose costa (and bare one..)

And….the differents in haired eyes (male and female)

Next time please collect a male (so we can check the genitals)…..otherwise I probable get a scolding form Michael Ackland that I spend to much time on a female Anthomyiidae!.....:)

Excellent illustrations - many thanks! I will look closser on the fly and come back. The setae ventrally on costa are clearly visible - the other characters I will check clooser.

And I will look for males of this genera in the future :)

Now I have looked clooser on the fly and it´s really not easy to see the details. There are setae ventrally on costa, but they are smaller and not so dense as on the picture abowe. There seems to be only one pd setae on midtibia (and I am not sure about how many ad on hind tibia...) ... and the eyes seems to be almost bare (perhaps som mikro hairs). Probably it is not possible to get further with this one - and better to look for a male this season?

Anyway it was interesting to get to know the characters of this group.

My appreciation for your effort till now and just save this female Anthomyiidae for later on.
Maybe next spring we can have more luck with male speciemen!
