Italy, Apennines near Lucca, 370 msl, 1st August.
Valley slope, open woodland.
Acroceridae, Astomella hispaniae (is A hispaniae the only european species?)
Two specimens retrieved from a swimming pool filter! Its interesting to see on a different thread by Rui Andrade another specimen collected from a water trap -

Thanks, Mark.
Is my specimen female and the specimen shown here the male?

I'm just guessing on size really!

Hi Steve,

Yours is a male. The female's abdomen is much more ovate an not parallel sided.

Many thanks Christian, so is the small brown specimen in the above link the female or an unrecorded species?

Should be an exceptionally dark female. They are normally more yellowish.
