Is it possible to say which white-faced sarcophagid this is likely to be?
Found in a hedgerow in hertfordshire in August

On the lateral shot the flash unit is beginning to run low on charge so it missed some shots and that's why the frons is black. I replaced the batteries for the dorsal shot and it looks right in that shot

The photos of Metopia argyrocephala in the gallery show the same directional pattern as yours: silver from above, black from the side.

There are several similar species with this feature.

This is argyrocephala indeed.
