Hello,

I know there were some records here in Germany since 2002 (although faunaeur.org still lists it as 'doubtful'), but I did not expect to find it here in the northwest. But today I saw this 7 mm male here in our courtyard on Eupatorium cannabinum. ID seems to be clear, but because it is so new for me, confirmation would be fine, thanks!

totoally correct.
It has been in the Netherlands from around 2000. Typical autumn species, though some spring records do exist.
Be on the lookout, it can be found all of September.

Thanks, Theo!

I will watch for it next week (the weather shall remain dry - hopefully...). On faunaeur.org the species is still listed as "doubtful" for Germany (but it appears in my "Entomofauna germanica" from 2002). Is something known about hosts (migratory locusts in Africa) here in central Europe?

Well, it is clear migratory locusts are not around.
The story has been, that the specimens migrate on a yearly basis. However, to me it is clear that this is old knowledge. I have little doubt that the species is indigenous in NL for more than ten years.
The obvious explanation is that Stomorhina is in all Acrididae-eggs, and has only been found in migratory locust, since that species is so exceptionally well studied.
