Can you distinguish Parasyrphus? In North America a few species can tolerate climate similar to St. Petersburg, although most are arctic or alpine.

Many of the Parasyrphus species in the St Petersburg area probably will have darker leggs than this specimen. Apparently only the base of the hind femur is darkened, which is consistent with most Syrphus.
