hello, this possible cheilosia I found today in Voeren, Belgium.
is this correct and can someone be more precise about this? thanks a lot...chris

Yes, male. I can exclude many species, but cannot be sure about the right one. Do you have some good resolution photos of face ?

Only sure thing is that this male is from "
pagana" group, and that has mostly pale thoracic hairs and black rings on t1-t2.

I agree with Lukasz that this looks like C. scutellata. The head profile and colouration of mesothoracic pile fit that species. In C. pagana, the facial tubercle is not as swollen and in C. longula the thoracic hairs are darker. In C. soror the basoflagellomere is more reddish.
