Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Sciaridae?

Hallo!
This fly was collected today, N-W Russia, Karelia republic, south part. These flies was flying around the plant on the window-sill. I'm afraid they can cause disease of it, but not sure. Can their larvaes be dangerous?

Yes, Sciaridae. And yes some larvae can be an issue for plants (I've lost many cactus'sprouts thanks to them), especially indoor ones

The one you posted is a female, and is possible that she already laid eggs.

Thanks for your answer! The plant was replanted, but I don't know can it help or not. Perhaps I'll post photos of male if I find it.
