Hello Reinoud.
I have a question abot this fly..
To me it seems to be Machimus cingulatus, is it eating it's partner or just a dead victim found..?

Indeed Machimus (Tolmerus) cingulatus. As far as i know robberflies don't take dead prey. Cannibalism is not uncommon among them and this could also have been her mate.

You are welcome, you keep me from the Streets : ) Robberflies suck their prey dry but do not "eat" parts, maybe the other one got mutilated during mating. ??
