Photographed on bush near stream. Small yellow and red-brown fly. I think it may be a Chloropid. Is that right and is it possible to be more specific from these poor photos?

Regards,
Martin

Meromyza spec., female, Chloropidae: females cannot be identified with certainty; palpi not to be seen, form and colour unknown: The metallic sheen of the eyes is typical for a number of chloropid genera and disappears in dead pinned specimens, but not in alcohol. Chyromyidae poesess similar coloured eyes. "chlor" means green, "ops" means eye (ancient Greek), the family name is based on Meromyza species with such life eye colour.

Thanks von Tschirnhaus. I didn't know about the meaning of the Chlor Opid name - very interesting!
