Fly captured in a water trap near my compost bin in Suffolk. UK, in March. These photos have already been discussed in the (private) Facebook Diptera page. I am reposting them here to get a publically-accessible confirmation of the ID offered there.

Regards,
Martin

The species that have been named in the Psychoda albipennis complex are P. albipennis, P. severini, P. inornata, P. parthenogenetica, P. satchelli, P. zetterstedti and P. jezeki. Most sources will consider at least some of these to be synonyms, but the taxonomy is very unclear and is still being worked out. When I first started identifying Psychodids, I followed the revisions by Jezek (1983, 1990); according to his character systems this is P. satchelli.
According to my DNA taxonomy studies P. satchelli sensu Jezek encompasses at least two different species in Europe; I have unfortunately not yet sampled enough specimens to relate the DNA differences to morphological characters.
