Found sitting on a rock by ponds near atlantic forest in Gijón, Asturias, coastal N Spain, on 24.08.2013. Reminds me of
Tabanus autumnnalis and an odd
Atylotus at the same time :( Help, please!!

The only one I can see I guess is the one you see ;)
Very happy to be sure at least of the genus ;) But won't complain if you can tell me the species too :D :D :D

WEll, I couldn't tell you why it couldn't be T. bromius.
So not really a positive ID, but tentative.

Thanks a lot for the tentative ID, Theo ;) It is appreciated all the same ;)
These
Tabanus are going to drive me mad :( I have been doing a bit of study and I usually see the band right in the middle of the eye. No idea if this works always this way. I guess it depends on how the light gets on the eye.
