You are barking up the wrong tree: only Philipomyia rohdendorfi from the Caucasus has the antenna so dark.
It is Tabanus eggeri you are looking at, in my opinion.
You might check for setulae on the basicosta on the original pictures.

Or by chance any picture of the ventral side ?
