Hi,
Does anybody know what this is?
I often see these on top of straw bales in the morning.
I take the photo on 25 November 2013 Kokkola, Finland.

Not Scatellla - the costa stops at R4+5, which makes it Scatophila.
Interesting that it should be active in such cold weather!:)

It is really a male of Scatophila noctula.

Thanks for the replies.
The first shot is of a live specimen on top the wheat bales. I then captured the fly, brought it home and took some more shots after needling it.
