Many thanks, Theo.

Mesnil in Lindner (p1171) states H. femoralis is the most regularly found and widely distributed species. However, Using Cerretti's key this specimen seems to be H. sanguinea which has a narrower distribution (Italy but not France?). Though both species do seem to be variable and difficult to distinguish. Also, Cerretti's key (I Tachinidi Della Fauna Italiana volI p406) seems to differ to that of Mesnil (but my weak knowledge of German combined with Google Translate might be the problem:| )
