Thread subject: Diptera.info :: An Asilid Hymenopteran mimic from Cyprus.

As indicated in my previous posting I have recently returned from northern Cyprus where this little stunner was among the flies I managed to photograph. At a first glance I thought it was going to be a Hymenopteran but with only one pair of wings and halteres what a brilliant mimic it is. The specimen which I have retained is about 8mm long. It was found on 30 March near Avtepe. Any suggestions on identification would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Alan
