Photographed in woodland, near Reading, UK on 2011-10-23.

They appear to have not enough spines on the scutum for Suilllia (Heleomyzidae).
I think they might be Neuroctena anilis (Dryomyzidae).
Am I correct?

A slightly different angle:

Pherbellia (Sciomyzidae), and I would go for P. scutellaris.

Thanks Stephane. Pherbellia is a new genus for me. I obviously have a long way to go before I know my way around these little orange flies!
