But there is still another question. If two flies encounter they show a (for me) strange behaviour. Is this a threat or something like a mating foreplay?

The first part of the clip shows a male, probably showing territorial behaviour. The last part shows a female, possible (also) looking for oviposition sites.

Paul, are you speaking about the first (preview with one individual) or the second video (preview with two individuals)?
