Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinidae -> Estheria cristata (M)

Hello,

this 8mm Tachinidae is from last july from southwest germany from a forest clearing. Can anything be said about it?

Interesting ... long petiole ... Zeuxia cinerea perhaps? Really I'd prefer a few angles though - do you have anything showing the face - laterally?

Not the (short) petiole, 3 post DC and reddish scutellum:

Ahh, yes I was trying to see a shot of the face to see whether it might be an Estheria - laterally they are unmistakable :)

Zeuxia has an appendix to bend in vein M and - in most common species - a row of proclinate orbital setae.

Both are lacking here
