It is shouting "
Lydella" at me but I can't find any features that would confirm it ... maybe Theo could comment? :)

Yes, correct, you can see the erect apical scutellars in the second pic. The eyes are bare and the scutellum is black, so it can't be Phryxe.
I'd say it is a female L. stabulans, but females Lydella are pretty difficult to separate from pic.

Yes, the erect apical scutellars were fairly clear ... couldn't see a single hair at the base or r4+5 ... but the bare eyes and 'chin-less' face with wide frons were all making me think
Lydella :)

Just to add some context,
Lydella stabulans is one of the commoner summer tachinids in the UK.
Lydella grisescens would be a better find but they are hard to split from a photo :)

If the colours in the picture are any good, this can't be grisescens, this one is much too bluish.
