Hi,

I have plenty of pictures of this one, I met at night, attracted by the light on the terrace of the small house I spend most of my time while being in Brazil..rainforest Paraty-Brazil.
19-20th February 2010
It is the same fly, it just wouldn't stay in one place..
I guess it's one of these flies with countless look-a-likes but maybe a Genus name is possible?

Thank you,
Myriam:)

The genus is easy - Belvosia (Goniini) - but the species is nearly impossible - even with a specimen ... a very confused genus made even more confusing after DNA work too, I hear ;)

Still, they are lovely flies and one of my favourites :)

Missed your post Ruud! Ah a Tachninid then! Thanks!

Thanks a lot Chris for the Genus! Maybe I can add a Brazilian to the Gallery..

Would be nice to have it in the gallery, I think - also remember to change your titles if something is identified, so that we can find the thread in the future ;)
