Can anyone say if this small, slim orange fly is an Anthomyzid? Anthomyza sp? - or something else altogether?!

Hi, Nick!

Psila sp. (Psilidae). Can't tell the species, did ask it myself some hours ago: http://www.dipter...d_id=30893

Many thanks Phil and Juergen for the quick help. It's a new family to me... Juergen's fly looks very like mine, must be their time of year..

using Darwyn Summner's keys (http://www.dipter...soidea.pdf) Psila fimetaria seems probable?

Hi Mark, many thanks for keying this out, will run it through as well, but am sure I'll reach the same conclusion and it matches this image well: http://www.eol.org/pages/747866?text_id=6372592
