Hi!

Is this 5-6 mm Bibio male from Thursday at the forest (northwest Germany) B. johannis or some other species?

Thanks, Theo! All Bibios were relatively late this year after the long winter, so I was not sure about the activity. Normally B. johannis occurs here one to two weeks before marci, but this April the first Bibionid I saw, was a big B. marci female on April-17.

All very true, but in no contradiction to the observation that johannis is no longer active.
