Both are Chrysops. Upper: female of C. viduatus. Lower: male, wait for Theo :-)

Well spoken

I have my doubts on the lower male, it looks like relictus, however, the hairs on the pleurae seem to be rather dark,
which would suggest viduatus.
This is the only pic ?

Hi Theo & Libor,

thanks for your help so far.
I've got one more pic of the male... unfortunately it was quite windy and all others were more
than slightly out of focus :o

Does this one help ?

Thanks &Rgds

Yes, the hairs on the pleurae are yellow after all.

So it isthe male of relictus.
Without worry, this time
