Hi everyone !

I just wondered what happened to this Empididae when I saw it first time : thought some elephant had to crush its abdomen.

But since then, I met several other specimens with such curious abdomen apex, so I came to the conclusion they should be males exhibiting genitalia ;)

This one came to light, on 19th april 2009 in my garden, in Fragnes (Burgundy, France). It was av. 10 mm long.

This one should be some Empis, right ?
Is it possible to determine species ?
