Lispe r interesting flies and time to time I watch after them and try to photo beavering and interesting life lifestyle episodes.

Unfortunately I still not have luck to ID the most Lisp sp I find in my visit's sites
One sp already ID with the help of the forum and I hope I'll be lucky again

The follow photos show from my view point 2 different sp

I do not have more photos of what I consider first sp
In the field its hard to see all the details I can see at home on the screen
I hope the following photos will show the different clear as I see them

Taking those photos require me splash in the mud so before I'll do it again :(
I'll be happy to get some cue regarding the sps

And I one of u have list of the Lispe of Israel or the area I'll be happy to receive it

Location: Israel
Habitat: big pond with shallow muddy banks

The photos show 2 specimens I consider different from the common Lispe I see in the site
They smaller a bit, the eye look more greenish, the legs are more dark and they have not the rusty colors near the joints. the front look different.
I'm nor familiar with all scientific body parts name but I'm sure is easy to understand my descriptions

I like Lispe too, but it is damn difficult genus:
1. Usualy among several Lispe on same small pool there are several different species at the same time.
2. Israel is especialy bad place for Lispe observations - here you can find altugether European + Afrotropical + Indian species
3. Lispe 3,4 has strong av on t2. In Europe it means L.longicollis and I was ready to send you this misID. Fortunelly, I checked your another images. On image http://albums.timg.co.il/userFolders/9/113868/113868200810111449.jpg with copulated pair, note long curved hairs on male's hind basitarsus - Lispe cilitarsis Loew - nice image for Diptera Gellery! (3,4 - same)

I understated the ID for 3-4 is Lispe cf cilitarsis
for 1-2 no ID in this stage

I'm looking for biology information about Lispe sp and special on the Mediterranean spcs
for my blog. I have some from local book and web searching but I need more "meat"

I have look at the The Biology of the Muscidae of the World By Peter Skidmore
(Google book) but the most important page (regards the Mediterranean spcs is missing)

Appropriate any information I can get from the forum members (email is a good option)

1. As you guessed 1,2 are another species, I'm not ready to give the name.
2. I haven,t Skidmore, but planningto order this book.
3. Generally, I'm sure that information about Lispe is very scanty, so any observation will be interesting. But I guess that you will meet a problem with ID the object of your observations. And the only real solution I know is to collect flies, to take keys...
