Hi

* locality - P?voa D?o - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL
* date - 2008.08.21
* size - about 7 mm (medium fly)
* habitat - woodland
* substrate - on Mentha sp. flower

I thought that this was a Leopoldius, but then I asked to David Clements and Jens-Hermman and the conclusion is the same: Conops scutellatus.

I misleaded the proboscis, in which is small in Leopoldius not as long as in Conops genus.
Nevertheless, it is one of the most beautiful conopids around but hardly ones beat the spectacular Myopa picta. :) (I also love Myopa dorsalis!)
