Tachinidae. It reminds me of Siphonini but tergite 4 has discals so it can't be.

John got misled by the arista: there are more options for an elongated first aristomere.
This is actually the female of Entomophaga exoleta, a very rare species. It is restricted, so far, to sandy areas, is very rare, as said. I have seen material from Crete, Israel and ... a large population just 5 km. from my home !

Koutsoukos, could you please provide more info on the habitat ?

I thought it looked like Siphonini, but the Central European key says only Goniocera has discals on T3 or T4.

OK, I checked my collection: Entomophaga exoleta often has discals. It is a pity the tibia is so out of focus, I cannot tell whether there is one or more ad on mid tibia. But the first aristomere definitely seems elongaged, which exclude pretty much all other Siphonini.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
