Hello Bert,

I don't think this is D. kiesenwetteri, still looks more like a Machimus sp female. But a better look at the ovipositor would be very helpful. http://www.biodiversidadvirtual.org/insectarium/Dystomus-kiesenwetteri-(Loew-1854)-img602052.html

Here you can see the shape of the ovipositor.... : )
Greetings,

On second thought, i think your ID is right! The ovipositor is simply hidden behind a stone and makes it appear more triangular. The reason why i had to think of Machimus. The ribbed dorsal side of the ovipositor is the same as that of kiesenwetteri.....the cerci seem to be wedged in the ovipositor.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
