Is it possible to say anything about this fly?

Difficult to say anything for sure, but it could be Botanophila fugax.
You have to check it further yourself.....

Many thanks Johanna! I know that Anthomyiidae females are often impossible to identify. However, I think that these descriptions fit quite well with my specimen.
Hindfemur with 1-2 longer setulose pv hairs near middle, 1 pair of strong presutural acrostichal setae followed by rows of fine hairs (mostly one pair of less strong acrostichals before the strong one's..), prealar slightly shorter than posterior notopleural seta and costal spines before discal break as long as smal crossvein.

It is always difficult to ID a female Anthomyiidae for sure, but with the yellowish wings and calypters, two strong posterior setae on the midtibia, upper occiput beneath postoculars setulose, one strong pair of presutural acrostichals and general view... I think this could be Botanophila fugax female.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
