Hi ! Center of France, larvae collected from a dead mouse on 31th august 2016 and flies born 4 days later. Size of fly 4 mm. No idea ! Thank you for help.

The imago is a female Fannia, but the larvae are from another family, probably Muscidae.

Fanniidae (3 post dc, vein Sc mostly straight, parafrontals wide and widest in middle). |

Thanks Stéphane and John. I was surprised to see emerged flies so quickly ! I had placed a few larvae in a small closed plastic case with a piece of fresh meat and 3 days later I found half a dozen of that flies ! I just saw pictures of Fanniidae larvae, that's quite different, it's a mystery ! So Fannia sp. (female) ? Eugene |

The empty shell of the pupae should still be present in the plastic case...!? Johanna |

I am sure the case was empty but I had made a few small airholes in the cover (1,5 mm diameter). May be the Fannia entered by that way, attracted by the putrid smell of the meat ? It's the only possibility but it's amazing ! Eugene |
