Hi Koenraad

you are actually in Bishkek now ? Still going to hike ?
I reviewed the Tachinidae of Kyrgyzstan some years ago, see Tachinid Times (available online).
Anyway, this is a Nowickia or a Cnephaotachina, which might be Nowickia as well.
Can tell you more if you collect the stuff !

Hi Theo,
I was in Bishkek one month ago - this one I saw the last day of our Kyrgyzstan trip. I mostly photographed butterflies, but could not resist to take a picture of this one, because he was sitting on my finger.
So I didn't collect any insects.
I will certainly check your review online - thank you for your help.
Cheers,
Koenraad

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
