Today, aug 22nd, a Tachinidae appeared out of a cocon of Arge ochropus. The Arge-larvae pupated july 29th.

Dag John

* ogen kaal of lang behaard
* ocellaarborstels aan- of afwezig
* dorsocentralen 3+3 of 3+4 ?

Thanks

Theo

Heb je een PM gestuurd Theo.

Had already a Vibrissina turrita few weeks ago from another sawfly-larvae. For me as a non-dipterist that one looks different.

So, I got the fly (thanks, John!) and it is a female of Vibrissina turrita, thoug aberrant.
Vibrissina turrita is specialized on Argidae and Tenthredinidae, so that makes total sense.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
