Can somebody tell if this is Metopia argyrocephala or is it M. rondaniana? I know Theo said something about the curly hairs on a fore tarsus but I still don't know how to deal with it Frown

Because there are no curly hairs here..

Moreover, the very strong contrast between white and dark on the vertex also implies argyrocephala. To assess this, you need to have a lot of experience, it is tricky.

In any case: male M. argyrocephala.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
